4-6-2 S.P. 2472 is very close to steaming again. New boiler tubes, superheater flues, and lower firebox sidesheets have been installed by boilermaker Mike Russell and the GGRM crew. She passed the warm-water Hydro test. Safety valves are overhauled. Airbrakes are COTS'ed. Firebrick installation would start soon (next week?), but may be delayed by the upcoming move to Brightside on the Niles Canyon Railway. (The move has to happen before sewer and storm sewer removal and replacement at Hunter's Pt shipyard landlocks the RR cars and locos. This is being done to remediate traces of late-1940s radioactive contamination in the storm sewers.)

Let us not forget the White Pass and Yukon 69...........while it ran some very unsucessful trial runs last year the loki was never filled in service with the FRA. After another full year of continueing dedication of the WP&Y with two shop guys working FULL time the 69 reported ran last week for the FIRST TIME within the last week or two. Any of this sound familiar as to statements made earlier regarding this locomotive?

To all the members of TRAIN the browse this interchange, I propose that the "restoration of the year" award from 2005 should be reissued to the whitepass as if it were not for their decision to put yet another year of work into undoing all of the crimes commmited against the locomotive by the "rebuilder" then the 69 would probably be on static display with the rotary. Maybe all of the board members should call the CMO and Operations Manager for their opinion?
