Sniff-sniff...smells like the engine's burning used french fry oil again. Or how about used KFC oil for your dinner train....

A couple of points on 3751 and bio-diesel...

We are currently using a less than 5% mixture of biodiesel with our normal heavier fuel...not 100%. Our thanks to the members of the LA Biodiesel COOP for their donation.

This is an experiment to see how the fuel interacts with the tender and locomotive fuel systems. Things we are watching for including mixing properties with our usual fuel, loosening of old sludge deposits in the tank, combustion characteristics, etc.

what is the BTUs per gallon of Biodiesel? what is the BTUs when mixed with other fuels?

Does anybody have any tests showing the actual emissions when you burn biodiesel in open combustion as a mix with heavy fuel? The Disney article says the carbon dioxide goes down significantly, but do any other emissions go up?
