Is there anybody making reproduction lenses and reflectors for 18" Golden Glow headlights? I would be interested in good used parts too.

You may find traffic light reflectors will work as substitute reflectors.

Being an old TV guy I right away thought of the old studio lamps we tossed out when more efficient lighting came along.
Too late, the antique market is re-selling this stuff for more than we originally paid for them back in the 60s.
If your lucky yo might fine an old KLIEGL 10" Fresnel for around $300. Here is a Mole Richardson 10K (wattage) for around $800.

For my 1/8 scale model I found watch and clock faces that would meet my need for a domed lense.

This may be too fragile for a locomotive, but might give ideas to broaden your search. https://www.ebay.com/itm/262605220088

1. Find a metal spinning company and explain what you want.

2. One gent in the Northwest has used metal salad bowls and cut out the part needed for the lamp and base.

There is a company in Ft. Worth, TX. that has made a few for John Landrum. If you know John, email him, or contact me by message.

Along those lines, the CP 2816 team used stainless steel bowls (being sold as dog dishes) to make the 'cups' in the boiler jacketing around washout plugs. A large bowl could definitely work as a headlight reflector.

They're also a good stand-in for sealed beam bulbs on diesel locomotives, when vandals come along and smash them up...

So... what is it that gives a Golden Glow light its distinctive color? I always thought it was the chemical composition of the "silvering" on the glass reflector, but never gave it much thought beyond that.

Salad bowels might work to dummy up a park engine (and much harder to break) but what if a real functional headlight is needed?

I had heard that they used silvered uranium glass. Is this true? Not sure, but it would not surprise me. I would like to restore this light to original condition with the proper components. What I have discovered is that the 18" light seems to be more difficult to find parts for. After cleaning up the housing and doing some research I think this light may have come from an old snow plow or spreader.

Yup, of course one can "Google it". Point of the matter is there are a lot of us who have been in this avocation a long time, who might not dealt with/paid attention to things that come up in discussion here. The reason for RyPN is to provide a forum for ideas, and exchamge of information. Not so long ago I seem to recall a guy out in the Great Outdoors posting here looking for all sorts of information, and I don't recall he got any dismissive "Google it" responses, did he?
We all learn when information is freely exchanged...
