Friends of ours took this photo on 55th Street, Clarendon Hills yesterday afternoon 10/08/2015. Is there any info on this passenger car, where from to where to?

Trains Newswire reports that Iowa Pacific purchased two passenger cars from a closed restaurant in Lincoln, IL. They are headed to Bensenville, IL.

The Trains Magazine News wire reports the cars are:
Car No. 3351 once operated on the Panama Limited, a Burnside shops rebuild, once called the Capital Street
Car No. 4202 is a former cafe lounge car that once carried the name Flossmoor.

With the PTC deadline looming and no resolution in sight, Amtrak is testing some alternative technologies.

There are several hacks on the other side of that depot, are they going somewhere, too?

Was the 2nd car behind the one shown above and roofed over?

Is the restaurant building itself in jeopardy? Looks like a freight depot.

According to the Great American Stations website: " In June, 2014, the building was acquired by the city using high speed rail funds provided by the Illinois Department of Transportation. The intent is to restore the building's exterior to its 1911 appearance while providing modern interior amenities. A portion of the renovated building would house a waiting room for Amtrak passengers."

Another article stated that they were looking at commercial leasing prospects but the exact possibilities would have to await demolition. And to answer my own question, apparently there was quite a bit of space between cars as part of the restaurant used as a dance floor (that's mainly what was demolished before the cars were removed).

An enclosed dance floor and bar sat between the two passenger cars, once used as additional dining space for the restaurant.

The original depot will not revert back to serving Amtrak passengers, said Johnson. "We are working with Amtrak in hopes to make some improvements for a waiting area for passengers."

And about those cabooses:

"Iowa Pacific Holding Co. has purchased the two passenger cars and two cabooses"

I guess the cabooses are going to the Iowa Pacific along with 4202 & 3351. Anyone ID the
hacks?

It looks like they have surfaced, and have been IDed as ex-N&W:

Passing this along, one of the guys on the Peoria IL Railroads Trains Shortlines Facebook group received this from the owner of the cabooses, apparently the crane company that moved them: "From the owner of the cabooses.
We're asking $7,500 each for them. Loading will be included if the asking price is met or the offer is acceptable. I have a source for a pair of trucks and couplers at extra cost if one is so inclined." A guy on the board knows how to read ACI tags, which both of them still have, and they are indeed N&W 518391 and N&W 518398. Both are missing their trucks but as the note says they have a pair that they could sell you.
