Railroad History 147, Autumn 1982, by The Railway & Locomotive Historical Society, Inc. is an excellent roster of the Grand Trunk Railway. The roster was assembled by William Edson and Raymond Corley. It shows the roster notations for Great Western no. 313 on page 78. On page 79, there is a picture of a similar loco in the 0-4-2T arrangement.
This book has been reprinted.

For those without a copy of Railroad History 147 handy, here is the photograph from page 79:

If this was a tank engine, then where is the tank? I realize it would likely be severely deteriorated, but you would think something would be left.

Here is a very simple question but one I don't know the answer to: is there any way to access the inside of this boiler to remove the mud that is presumably in there before it sets up dry, other than the washout plugs (or cutting a hole)? If the the boiler is full of mud, it must make it very heavy and difficult to handle.

You could take the lid off the steam dome, stick a firehose in there, and let the mud escape through the washout plug openings. However, if the boiler was sealed up when the engine went in the lake, I doubt there's enough mud in there to make much difference.

If there were a couple of earlier attempts to excavate the locomotive, the saddletank and cab could have been removed then. I also notice the throttle handle and stuffing box have been removed, so if the story about striking employees running her into the lake is true, somebody removed these parts after that incident...
