Both Chrysler and General Motors used Regent Maroon which is the darkest maroon chip I have on hand...

The paler yellows such as cream do combine well with the dark maroons like on this 1935 Chevy...

I couldn't find any photos but here it is on a Ditzler/PPG Intermix chart a few chips above Regent Maroon. Cabana Cream is a thirties Chevy color along with DuPont 93-530 Cream Medium and looks like it could be same as the slightly brighter 93-5925 Cream. I still like Dusty Gray for the B&O and additional research is required on that particular Harbormist Gray since there's more than one of them to do additional research on... LOL

The last time I made a fool out of myself with maroons was back on Page 25 trying to peg one of them as the PRR's Tuscan Red which could be considered more of an orange-red or a brownish maroon. Be that as it may, Chevy Truck Cape Maroon is the next lightest in the 1954 catalog after Dodge Truck Rio Maroon.

I needed a good method to more accurately photograph all these dark chips to better capture their true colors so I thought I'd try out a quickie experimental dark gray posterboard mask.

On the left is Rio Maroon by itself and with Chrysler DT3008 from the Dodge Truck Special Colors fan deck. Monsoon Maroon is on the top right and Cape Maroon is on the bottom right...

Here's the Cape Maroon alternative example picture I had posted before but now featuring a minor amount of color correction... LOL

I got the Pullman Guide back out today. Ford Moselle Maroon now appears ever-so-slightly darker than Dodge Truck Rio Maroon but both of them compare favorably to Pullman 70-90 Soo Line maroon with Rio Maroon perhaps having a bit of an advantage. Also, since it was handy, 10-105 Southern Pacific red better matches the lighter of the two Socony Reds, General Motors WE5884...

Bordeaux Maroon and Swift Red look good on the Chicago Great Western and they're both conveniently located together under the Chevy chip section in the 1946 truck catalog...

On the GMC side, Regent Maroon and Pimpernel Scarlet might look good also... LOL

Swift Red and Bordeaux Maroon seem to line up pretty well with the photo and each other while Regent Maroon looks just a little too dark...

Desaturated, Regent Maroon appears almost black but Bordeaux Maroon will emit that weird purple-gray color...

Uh oh, according to the list, the Soo Line actually used 014 Imitation Gold, a.k.a. Duco 254-54292. That should push the maroon more toward a darker color like Ford Monsoon Maroon...

On the other hand, the CGW did use Reading/Lackawanna Yellow, Duco 254-54388, so the Dulux 1290 Venetian Yellow chip should drop right in there, which it does...
