Concerning that pic of T-1 #2119 back on Page 19, Phil was correct with the general location as it was taken just south of Locustdale off of Lavelle Rd. This is the section of the line where it runs north/south which explains the morning sun angle in the shot. Great picture to animate in my mind and yours too. LOL

Time to get super serious with the color matching now as I feel like I'm making way too many speculative errors on some of the other colors. Being able to get the chips outside in the sun and away from artificial light helps me greatly. Many of these fleet medium yellows are quite similar to one another and with the addition of too many more of them in later years, this gets a little bit hairier than I initially thought.

Fine with me, however, since I'll just keep going until I get them all right. This is important because especially in the standardized postwar-era, the paint colors are how we primarily identify with our railroads. I'm still good with my Reading colors, though, because they're all older like I'm getting.

Got the 93-54701 chips and the Berrio olive oil label properly matched up today. Had to cut it off the bottle before the big red recycling truck gets here tomorrow morning. This would be the known yellow of the Alaska Railroad and Iowa Interstate along with which ever other 54701's Eric has on his list...

I just went down Eric's list and found 3430 Blue for the CAE so I'm very happy with this one but sometimes the Crusader pacifics do look like they're a two-tone...

This comparison picture should pretty well explain why I'm now looking forward to receiving the 1939-1947 International Yellow chip so much. Could it be the equivalent of 93-5607 in my 1954 DuPont book? You'll find out as soon as I do, whenever that is... LOL

About the lighter 93-242 yellow on freight cars, I distinctly remember these late gondolas built by Bethlehem Steel being of a lighter yellow also. The green was the '73 Green Machine Green, however, so that just might hold up about sticking with the traditional Reading yellow until the very end...

93-54701 is Fruehauf Yellow if I haven't mentioned it already and that color is apparently popular among the hot rod community after looking around the 'net for a bit. Since the Alaska used that color, I figured I'd look up the blues on Eric's list also...

The darker blue is Chevrolet Truck Mariner Blue which is Plate #80 in my 1954 DuPont catalog...

The lighter blue at first glance appears to be a more modern fleet color which initially may take some digging to find its alternative uses...

Fruehauf Yellow looks like it was paired with the darker blue as demonstrated on #1524. The two smaller chips in the corner are 93-5248 and the John Deere Implement Yellow of which I haven't been able to match up with a DuPont code as of yet...

You guys might think I'm a little off but, right now, it beats the heck out of turning the TV even a little on. LOL Anyway, here are the packaging-based alternative examples of all three yellows in the reverse order since I'm left-handed also...

Okay, took an old man nooner nap which straightened everything out, I hope. First off, finding an alternative example of the darker 93-63203 Mariner Blue was easy.

Getting the slightly lighter blue right was hard but then, it turns out that's just a later version of 93-3430 Export Blue which, in the seventies, became Dark Blue on Chevies and Mariner Blue on 1974 GMC's. It also goes by the superseded General Motors WE code of 5200...

On the Martin-Senour cross-reference list, WE5668 does match up with 93-3430 so, in the end, this all turned out well but, for some reason, being an ex-sailor didn't help at all...

The black's a no-brainer but if there are any other blues or yellows involved, well, I've still got more stuff to do with the Reading... LOL

Speaking of a #3001, I know every Reading fan out there has #3674 on the target list for preservation. As of seven month ago, it still had almost its original horn...

So you guys can just imagine what this sounded like when it hammered past me coming up through Annville about ten feet away from my 11-year-old face. In 1958, the Reading was still producing promotional materials in a turquoise-like color. By 1961, the pastures became greener. No attempt to match colors here. Just trying to get an idea of the transition timeline...

Now this is interesting as we might be dealing with duplicate colors on the Martin-Senour chart as well. Both of these are exact matches for DuPont 93-5248.
