An organization that I was a member of has a former Pere Marquette 40' single sheathed wooden boxcar in its possession, which is nearing the point of basketcase status. It has a steel underframe, roof and ends, and was reportedly built in the 1920s. The organization does not have the manpower, money or facilities to restore the car, and I would like to see it go to someone who would restore and care for it. If anyone is seriously interested and has the means to care for this car, contact me and I will help you negotiate with the owning organization for its acquisition. I can get the car number, I don't have it offhand.

Hello-

If the car is located anywhere near Michigan, we might be able to figure out a solution. I would hate to see any PM car (especially a sigle-sheath wood car) go to the scrapper, or just fall in on itself from what your describing.

The car is in Youngstown, Ohio and is certainly transportable by truck. The car is being used for storage and could possibly be acquired for the equivalent amount of storage space, Read "a boxcar for a boxcar".
