Nice work on the C-9 bridge timber job.

Has there been any consideration to using long ties (switch timbers) on the last 8 or so ties approaching the bridge? We have found that 3 or 4 9-foot and then 3 or 4 10-foot ties, with adequate ballast, just before the start of the bridge timbers/headwall helps maintain the approach trackage surface. Remember that the bridge is a fixed point that should not settle and be subject to a need for surfacing, while "open track" does need occasional surfacing. It's been a useful technique for us.
