No, Mitch. After the 31st, we're done until the Spring. However if we are dealt a big consist at interchange that requires two engines, we may double-head steam. We'll try to let folks know if/when that occurs.

Thanks for your patronage.

I just received word that tomorrow morning's mixed will be powered by two steam locomotives (#475 and #89) due to the tonnage of the train exceeding #475's rating.

The train is scheduled to depart at 6:30 am, fare is $15.00, cash only please.

Just got word that this Friday's run - October 26th may be the last steam freight for 2012. Hope it was a success equal to the railroad as it was to it's fans and riders!

Head on out - if I'm wrong, and October 31st is in fact the final steam powered run, you have nothing to loose but album space in your binder. It's not too soon to say "binder" is it?

I have binders full of Straburg Steam - thanks for the memories, past, present and those to come!

Mitch, thanks again for your patronage. And sorry about walking through your photo line with my coffee and the wheel reports - I was still waking up.

No mixed freight 10/26. Dwell time in Enola, and all that ...

... And as a postscript, Wednesday October 31st is the last steam mixed for the season.

And for those of you who were unable to make it to the double-headed freight...

Big Jim, for some reason--the bulkhead flats, really--that video of the double header reminds me of an O. Winston Link recording of a Y-class engine on a secondary route struggling with 50 cars of wallboard in Virginia.

Maybe Strasburg needs a Mallet? :-D

No worries! The only person I saw walk in front of me had a camera to the best of my recollection. If it was you and a coffee - well, then it was an accurate rendition of the scene at hand! I work around you, not the other way around!

Here are my pics from the morning of the double header freight which took place Wednesday. Conditions were challenging to say the least but opportunities were
many and just to be there was a prize in itself.

Enjoy the pics!

So the doubleheader last week was essentially the last mixed train for this year? Was a good run...
