It needs a new boiler. Perhaps if it had received one, they could have run the Ice Harvest trains. Is the museum in Monticello, IL the only heritage railway with an active steam generator car? I know the SP 4449 group has one.

No active steam locos, so gotta have something to provide steam heat...
