The shell of a Central Pacific passenger rail car over 100 years old was found embedded inside a former restaurant removed by the [Portland-Milwaukie Light Rail] project at SE 18th and Holgate. After being taken out of service, the car became part of the Brooklyn Diner, which offered meals to the Brooklyn neighborhood from the 1930s to the 1970s.

A project contractor removed the passenger car shell from the building, and salvageable portions will be donated to the Oregon Rail Heritage Foundation. Through the car shell you can see the TriMet bus yard across Holgate Boulevard.
