The big Northern Type is being prepared for moving this morning.
Just by happenstance, friends stayed in a hotel across from the station last night and are watching the scene.

Here is a brighter shot. Possible move Saturday?
I remember No. 6167 working its last trips, double headed with No. 6218. Saw them on the Dundas Sub., just east of Brantford. You could hear ol' 67's rods clanging from a mile or so away! N0. 6218 was fresh from Stratford shops and was doing most of the work.
Should have gone down and listened to them pulling the Copetown hill!
Still, a scene I will never forget!

And one in Trains Magazine (no paywall):

Still hard to figure out what all that money to move it (roughly $450k US) is buying them.

Greenspace Construction, which is primarily a landscaping company, won the bid for the C$600,000 project

Corruption in Canada is absolutely off-the-wall out-of-control at this point, and I wouldn't be surprised if such forces were in play here.

Quote:
Plans are that the locomotive will be accessible without fencing that has marred viewing in prior locations.

Evans said that 6167 will be on full view and will not be fenced in.

"If somebody really wants to get up and climb it a fence isn't going to stop them,” she said. "It will definitely get way more exposure on the road.”

And of course, still no fence or roof... they really seem to have some kind of prejudice against fences in Guelph. This issue kept coming up over the years, even though the original plans called for a fence... and a roof... Odd that both articles mention and try to justify this information. I mean, they could not have even brought it up in the first place, but I guess they know what they are doing is boneheaded and need to deflect...

And now it's next to a main road. I wonder how all the road salt in winter time is going to effect it.
