I'm am pretty sure that the 105 at Orville (OH) is not a DT&I locomotive. The tender of the locomotive was in bad shape 35 years ago, and the owner obtained a replacement, which was a DT&I tender, which was still lettered DT&I when it came to his yard in Orville. I knew the owner, Art Davis, and he told me the locomotive had been used by a construction company, Sturm and Dillard, on railway construction projects. It has been a few years since I researched the history of the locomotive, but any ownership by the DT&I was never suggested.

I first saw the locomotive, probably 35 years ago, when it had been moved, in a gondola car, from, I believe Circleville, Ohio to Erie, PA, where the Midwest Railway Historical Foundation, kept their USRA 2-8-2, the ex-GTW 4070, in the PRR roundhouse there. I am happy that the Age of Steam folks got the locomotive, and I hope they might be able to obtain one or more of Mr. Davis's steam wrecking cranes, as well. I've got slides somewhere. I'll see what I can find and scan.

Catalpa:

I suppose the tender could be ex-DT&I, but I've seen no proof. Mr. Davis' affection for the DT&I could explain any DT&I lettering, whether the tender was original or not.

Steamguy:

I disagree with your characterization of 105 as a DT&I locomotive, and explained my reasons in the "Age of Steam Gets Another One" thread.
