Post subject: Amusement Park steam loco at Kentucky RY Museum?
PostPosted: Sun Sep 08, 2002 12:53 am

Many years ago, I stopped by the Kentucky RY Museum in New Haven. It was after hours, but I was hoping maybe I could photograph one of their steam locomotives through the fence. (No luck.)

The museum has a depot for a main office. On the front porch of the museum was a small steam locomotive. I figured it was just flat sign or a mockup, and didn't think any more of it.

Since that time, I realized that what I had seen may have been an Ottoway or other small amusement park steam locomotive.

Can someone tell me what I saw? Just curious, if it an amusement park engine, I will list in "Surviving World Steam Locomotives".

That's just a sheet metal replica of an L&N 4-4-0 that was built by the fabrication shop at L&N's South Louisville ships in the 1940s. The locmotive was then stored in a person's back yard for a number of years before they loaned it to the KRM to use for parades. etc.
