 Post subject: westinghouse 9 1/2" compressors

In looking back through the posts I see mention of a 9 1/2" single compressor industrial Vs railroad. In looking at photos they appear to be the same unit except some have cooling ribs around the air cylinder. Are they in fact the same and will the industrial unit, if there is such a thing, work on the railroad side?
