Coupler Extension Drawings

Would anybody happen to know of any archive has a drawing (or even maybe catalog drawing) of a coupler extension?

All I know is that this was from the New Haven, used in Boston.

Please enlighten me! What would this be used for (other than the obvious of separating the pieces of equipment).

It was used for tight curves, and equipment with limited draft gear movements, which is why we needed it for moving the caboose in the NYC Subway system. Myself and one of our other riders spent about 12 hours staring at it waiting for it to explode..

And it was heavy. VERY. Heavy.

I've seen one of these made from three pieces of one-inch platecut in a rough "s" shape with spacers welded between them. Not pretty, but it worked just fine.

That's quite an interesting piece of hardware, I've never seen anything like that. I'm curious as to what the New Haven had to use something like that for.

Was this to move the C-60 that had been on display at the Transit Museum?

NH had some super tight industrial trackage in Boston (Union Freight Railroad).
