Just wanted to add my support for your decision. As others have mentioned, I'm interested in reports on the Conway Scenic and MEC 501 but would prefer that they come from someone who will provide facts and not grumblings.

No need to apologize, you were just doing your job as the moderator. He had his chance, you reminded him, and he blew it. Nothing to apologize for.

I apologize for taking so long to deal with the problem.

Don't. Like you said, you aren't sitting at the computer waiting for something to happen.

Later!
Mr. Ed

Moderating is very difficult. The good news is that for every bad apple that you have to ban (or otherwise aggravate) a good moderator will earn the trust and respect of hundreds. On the WW&F forum where I moderate, I've only had one person get out of line on a regular basis; he chooses to no longer post. However, I hear regular compliments about our forum, because the discussion never gets out of hand. If something goes awry, I edit out the post and inform the offender as soon as possible. With that one exception, most are grateful and understanding.

Rick, I think you're doing something that's long overdue, although I've usually handled attempts at cyber bullying for myself (not by choice). Fact is, this forum can do without any of that kind of BS, and it would be much better to have any personal issues handled outside this forum, and handled by our moderators, rather than being allowed to escalate to the point of somebody wanting to splatter somebody else with a brake shoe to the back of the head... not to mention any names.

Truth be told, we're supposed to be grown ups here, and the nice RyPNers fortunately out number the other variety many, many times over. For an excellent example of how one guy can keep a forum civil and productive, I nominate Lowell McManus, webmaster of MEXLIST.com. However, almost his whole life goes into that site, day in and day out. He reads every post, and heads off anything potentially problematic by contacting the poster privately before posting to the discussion board. Funny thing, but several situations that started out rather abrasively, ended up with me making a new friend after Lowell stepped in. THEN we posted.

However, RyPN is way too big for anybody to expect that kind of oversight from unpaid volunteers. Like so many of our other members, I wonder how in Hell you moderators find the time to fool with RyPN and live your own lives, too. Thanks to all of you fellas for doing so.

Take Care & Work Safe
