I was wondering if anyone had a drawing of the standard USPS mail bag used on Mail Cranes? The Ct Eastern RR Museum in Willimantic, Ct recently restored a crane and are in the process of installing it next to the Chaplin Station.

While we don't have a RPO to hook the bag from the crane, we want to be able to have an `actor' hang the bag during the next night photo shoot. Thus we are looking to find the standard drawing, so we can make a replica for use as an active display, as compared to a vintage one that can only be used for indoors display (we would also like to find a vintage one for display in the station).

Regards,
Rich C.

I would try contacting Dr. Frank Scheer at the Railway Mail Service Library.

You may also consider contacting IRM. They’ve got the whole set up and have performed demonstrations.
