Hello,
For about a year now I have been trying to find out more about the steam locomotives of the FCC. I have the Trains Magazine article from the mid 1950s which is truly tantalizing. However, it begs more questions than provides answers. Are The Central Railway of Peru and the Cerro De Pasco Railway by Donald Binns, Railways of Peru : Volume 2 - the Central and Southern Lines by Robert Whetham, and/or Railways across the Andes by Edgar Haine any good? Additionally, I haven't seen much about the end of steam on the FCC. When did it happen and how were the locomotives disposed of?
The only survivors I know of are the 206, an Andes class from the Cerro de Pasco, and some tank locomotives.
Thank you,
John

John,

I can't help you much with Peru, never having been any further south than Sonsonate, El Salvador. However, a dear friend of mine, Herb Cearley of Long Beach, had a Peruvian wife, and he gave me two excellent original slides of Peruvian steam: One is a narrow gauge train pulled by a Henschel (I think) 2-8-2 on the FFCC Pimental, and the other is of a Rogers 4-4-0 (1875 I think) which used to switch a 3 foot gauge dockside operation.

When they turn up, I'll send them to you.
