Well, at least someone is CLAIMING to have taken possession of it:

We are excited to announce our biggest (quite literally!) project to date, EMD DDA40X “Centennial” UP #6925.
UP 6925’s story is a long and colorful one, and thanks to our generous donors will involve seeing the largest diesel locomotive not yet in preservation moved from its long time home in Chamberlain, SD to our collection and restored in an iconic UP paint scheme.
We are looking forward to sharing more of the 6925’s story with you in the near future as this project progresses.

The group's website:

The group purports to own six locomotives and a MoPac caboose, and lists two cats among the "About Us" page on its website.

Is it just me, or does this “group” and their site seem odd at best? Three young people without last names, no location listed, yet they want to help some unnamed community. What are they going to do with a very gutted 6925?

They can't be all bad, if they have two roundhouse cats in their organization. Every roundhouse I've worked in had at least one of them, and this is a fine tradition which should be preserved.

Doesn't Railroad Service Contractors already own the locomotive?
