Parts of the Caso Sub in Southern Ontario, which is co-owned by CN and CP, are still in regular use, but from Welland to Fargo has seen little if any traffic for about 5 years. That is approximately a distance of 250 miles.
The track itself is it pretty good shape, it is heavy 127 lb rail that was installed by the New York Central in the 1940's, but a number of ties do need replacing.
However the biggest problem would be the crossing signals. There were several of the old style wig wags on the line and many of them have been stolen. Either they would have to be replaced or many of the crossings would have to be flagged in order to allow and excursion.
What do you have in mind? An excursion with Reading 2100 from St. Thomas?
I recently heard that the NS was inspecting the CASO to determine the rehab costs. Apparently they may have an interest in purchasing the line to create another East-West mainline from Detroit to lighten the traffic congestion to Buffalo on the old NKP.

That NS/Caso rumour has been kicking around for several years now, along with a number of other potential buyers. I know for a fact CN wants to rip it up, but CP is showing interest in running some of their "Expressway" traffic on it.
