The Feather River Rail Society, operator of the Western Pacific Railroad Museum at Portola, has recently undertaken a review of its collection according to the guidelines established by its Mission Statement.

As a result, US Navy 614 – an Alco MRS-1 in the Museum’s railroad motive power collection was identified as surplus and therefore deemed as a candidate for deaccession.

Therefore, the FRRS is now accepting written proposals for the acquisition of this piece by other qualified museums. This request for proposals will be governed by the following items:

• Preference will be given to proposals wherein restoration, either cosmetic or operational, of the locomotive is of the highest priority.
• Locomotive is available as is, where is, with no guarantee as to their condition or fitness.
• Locomotive may contain hazardous materials used in their construction or operation, and the handling and/or removal of these materials, if required, will be the responsibility of the receiving party, not the FRRS.
• Preference will be given to qualified 501c(3) non-profit organizations.
• Receiving parties will be responsible for all costs and arrangements related to removing the locomotive from it's current location. Assistance from WPRM crews can be negotiated separately.
• All title, rights, and interests in the locomotives will be transferred by the FRRS to the receiving parties, which shall agree to warrant and defend the FRRS and said described asset against all and every claim and person or persons whomsoever.

Sale price of this piece has been set at $5000.00 OBO as is / where is available at such to qualified non-profit.

Purchase proposals are encouraged and will be given priority, although proposals involving trade for work / services needed by the FRRS and / or equipment relevant to the WPRM collection will also be considered.

Proposals should contain the following information:

• Name of organization and specific contact information
• Name of the locomotive(s) for which the proposal is being made
• Intended use of the locomotive
• Preliminary and basic outline of plans to transport the locomotive
• Offer amount or trade offer if applicable

Proposals may be mailed, emailed, or faxed to the following:

Feather River Rail Society - WPRM Equipment
P O Box 608
Portola, CA 96122

For questions and requests for more information, please contact:

Eugene Vicknair – Director, FRRS
eMail – eugene.vicknair@gmail.com

Parties are encouraged to view the locomotive in person prior to submitting a proposal.

Advance appointment is required for full access.

Written proposals must be received by June 15th, 2010.

The FRRS reserves the right to remove this piece from consideration for sale/trade at any time for any reason.

All proceeds from the disposal of the equipment will be restricted to use for the acquisition or restoration of objects from the Western Pacific Railroad Museum collection.
