Thanks, Jeff, for the additional info! Do you happen to know which cars were acquired at the auction, which cars came from the Northern Nevada, and which cars were acquired in 1998? And, does anybody know the third party from which those 3 cars were acquired in 1998? Thanks in advance!

For the curious, here's some more info on these 7 nee-IC cars:

Diner #2900 Lassen was built by Pullman in 1917 in Lot #4406 to Floorplan #6-B-90 as 88 seat coach #2201, became 82 seat coach #2900 in 1937 (Pullman AC was also installed), was modernized in 1943?? as 66 seat chair* #2811, and in 1955 became 64 seat chair* #2851.

*In looking at the diagrams for this car, both as #2811 and #2851, it appears that the total seat count might be off by 2, i.e. #2811 was actually 64 seats and #2851 was actually 62 seats.

Dance floor #2901 (no name?) was built by Pullman in 1918 in Lot #4519 to Floorplan #6-B-90 as 88 seat coach #2207 and became 82 seat coach #2901 in 1937 (Pullman AC was also installed).

Commissary car-depot #2903 (no name?) was built by Pullman in 1918 in Lot #4519 to Floorplan #6-B-90 as 88 seat coach #2220, became 82 seat coach #2903 in 1937 (Pullman AC was also installed), and was modernized in 1952?? as 64 seat chair #2816.

Diner #2801 Trinity was built by Pullman in 1925 in Lot #4858 as 88 seat coach #2265, had Pullman AC installed in 1936, became a "compartment coach"* (same #) in 1938, and was modernized in 1942 as 68 seat divided chair #2801.

*"Compartment coach" probably refers to it becoming a divided coach.

Diner #2819 Siskiyou was built by Pullman in 1925 in Lot #4858 as 88 seat coach #2277, became 40 seat chair #2703 in 1934, had Pullman AC installed in 1936, and in 1943?? became 60 seat divided chair #2819.

#2840 (configuration?; no name?) was built by AC&F in 1929 in Lot #884 as 88 seat coach #2289, was modernized in 1949?? as 40 seat chair #2708, had Pullman AC installed at an unknown date, and in 1955?? became 64 seat chair #2840.

Diner #2838 Shasta was built by AC&F in 1929 in Lot #884 as 88 seat coach #2290, was modernized in 1949?? as 40 seat chair #2709, had Pullman AC installed at an unknown date, and in 1955?? became 64 seat chair #2838.

Ted-

Thank YOU for the additional info on these cars, I wish I had that before my big McCloud River book came out, but it's too late now...

To answer your questions, McCloud Railway bought the 2819 and 2838 at the Purple Martin auction on 19 July 1995, the 2801 and 2900 from the NN in the fall of 1996, and the 2840, 2901, and 2903 from the undetermined source in 1998 (I'd love to know from whom as well...).

2901, though painted green, was never lettered or named by McCloud. It was part of the train in winter months, alternating with an open air flatcar during the summer.

2903 was named McCloud.

2840 was set up as a second dancing car very late in the life of the dinner train, it only got used a couple times before the end, and normally only on the New Year's Eve party trains. The railroad never repainted it from the badly faded Purple Martin purple.

I'm on the road and don't have access to my full notes, but these are the basics.
