These are my scans of the chips. I am truly astounded by how right this looks...

This next series of entries is dedicated to Eric primarily for the time and effort it takes to compile such a fine list of railroad paint codes but also for trying to tell me I couldn't do this. LOL

First, I downloaded this pic of #9125 courtesy of the Anthracite Railroads Historical Society and tweaked it a bit. The paint job on this particular unit seems to be unique because the herald was done in the old Export Blue Crusader color. On all the other photos of the Blueliners I found, the heralds are the same darker blue as that on the carbodies...

Next, I took my scan of Page 13 from the 1954 chip catalog and adjusted it so the Export Blue reasonably matched that of the herald on #9125. You can pretty much see which chip is the darker blue already... LOL

And now we all have a good case of the Blueliner Blues on this fabulous Monday morning which, incidentally, the symptoms of which are completely identical to that of the Alaska Blues. Eric, you the man!!! LOL

I can't tell you if swapping the larger bells around changes the pitch or not. Maybe it just depends on which side of the tracks you're on.

All of my outstanding paint chips arrived yesterday but I didn't get a chance to look them over as of yet. Once I do, I'll begin to report my findings.

In the meantime, this is DuPont 5505 PRR Tuscan Red in its 1950's incarnation...

Here's the pic which made it easy to identify through the chips. It's not the same maroon as the one on this particular Chevy truck since it's either a '53 or '54...

Here are both of the Chevy truck maroons which are adjacent to each other in the 1954 chip book. Plate #54 is Burgundy Maroon which was first used in 1953 and Plate #55 is the slightly darker Cape Maroon, last of 1952, and if I'm right, the equivalent of 5505...

I like the yellow but this dark red right here could almost have its own thread. Also the Boston & Maine's maroon, Eric has it on his list as 246-6957, Chevrolet Fisher Red along with Pontiac Regatta Red, and that's just the beginning. I've already posted two other scanned chips of later equivalents so it does become a fleet color eventually... LOL

For now, however, it's just GMC Permanent Red, 93-3516-M, as demonstrated on this 1950... LOL

Now here's that alleged Mahogany Brown truck I posted way back on Page 2. You really need to turn the saturation up to get it to start showing its true colors shining through...

These burgundies are pretty brutal so for the time being, I think I'll just jump ship on this one, maroon myself on a desert island, kick back, and enjoy the tuscan sunset. Before I do, however, this is the Chevy Burgundy Maroon in a slightly more modern view... LOL

Couple comments....

I have the exterior PRR depot structure colors scanned for Behr paints. Chips provided by PRRHTS. Haven’t tried them yet. Still waiting to find out the original interior colors for Lines West depots. I see some careful sanding in my future....

5505 for PRR Tuscan doesn’t have an overabundance of red in it. It’s more brown than the maroon colors you’re looking at. You won’t find a chip for it in a book as that was a special PRR color.

Just remember to mask up, Eric!!! LOL

Interesting, since the one suspect maroon chip I didn't put up, 93-143-M, does flash more brown instead of purple. It also photographs slightly darker than Burgundy Maroon although to the naked eye, it looks pretty much the same. Not only that, it's one of the unassigned colors in my 1954 DuPont book. That's Permanent Red on the left. Like I said, these burgundies are pretty brutal...
