I was just suprised to hear Jay say he REALLY likes steam, even if he only was talking about cars. You may well be right that Jay has no interest in railroads, but there's not necessarily any conflict between someone thinking public transportation is a waste and thinking a big smoke-belching 6000 HP steam locomotive is cool as hell!

I think true "gearheadism" is pretty universal, regardless of the form of transport. :-)

I can't give details now, but a person well known to us for his work on dinner trains and railroad dining has done a pilot for a series on the topic. If it is picked up it will be on one of the specialty cable networks (FoodTV, HGTV, A&E, etc.). This might be the start of something good.
