What engine is this? I'm guessing the dismantled ex-Simons Steel 0-6-0T that was once at Steamtown, sold when they moved to Pennsylvania?

The little tank loco is said to have a very good boiler. I hope she is reassembled as the loco she was, rather than some zany, wild west, clown.

I examined it a few years ago. The loco is complete but dismantled. The cab was savaged pretty bad when they took it abart. Also the tank had quite a bit of rust-through. As for the running gear. The drivers all need to be turned (if there is enough material left) The rods and valve gear were laying around on the ground so you know the bearings are pitted etc.

As for the boiler. Its basicly sound with the exception of a thinned out area under the front of the cab wall. The steam dome was the most alarming with quite heavy pitting and thining. Without running an ultra-sound we could not tell much about the crown sheet and general condition of the inside surfaces. I think the burner was still in place but I cannot remember though I do remember it being setup for oil fire with the brick lined pan etc.

The stack had a peice missing if I recall correctly.

I spoke with the owner of the yard. He was quite willing to work a deal. He originally purchased it to use as advertising for a resturant.

Its certainly savable but would not be easy.

All, the loco was purchased by the junkyard owner from another person who bought her from Steamtown. She was to be used as an advertising gimmick at one of the junkyard owner's other business ventures, but not a restaurant. It was to be positioned ouside of Lee Speedway in Lee, NH with a sign that read "You're on the right track at Lee Speedway!" (no, I'm not kidding)

The deal fell through for the Speedway and the locomotive was brought to the junkyard where she sits today.

Everything that Terrence wrote is correct, all the major pieces are there, but sadly most oif them are badly deteriorated.

We only got a couple of photographs of the locomotive due to a whole bunch of junk crowded in around it. There was simply no place to get a clear shot.
