Some of you followed our progress with the repainting of the F3's this past summer. Not as glorious or noticeable is the mechanical work done this Fall in order to have NS move four of our other pieces of equipment out of South Jersey. Thanks for the update and insight - much welcomed and appreciated! It sure will be awesome to see that equipment get some loving care and a proper home. Looking forward to the restoration of both the B unit and the FA2 in particular. What kind of detail can you get into regarding the funding for these moves and repairs? Seems a large percent of it would be good fortune regarding the association with the D&L in Scranton who seems more then willing to subsidize the restoration of such pieces for reasons other then strictly economic - a rarity and wild card that other groups could consider in their own efforts but it would require an equal bit of good fortune. In short - it would be interesting to learn (where acceptable), who's paying for what, and why and how can other preservation groups learn from your current successes. /Mitch |

The ARHS via fund raising and donations is paying for the moves and the repairs involved in New Jersey in order to make the equipment acceptable for transport. The business relationship with the DL is private but the good fortune to have all of our equipment in one location is very fortunate for the ARHS and the equipment. Considerably more contact and networking between shortlines and at least some historical societies is more prevalent than many fans may realize and this is what can make the difference between a project suceeding or failing.
