230.62 requires the drypipe to be inspected for thickness at each annual inspection.
If the boiler in question is small, it'd be virtually impossible to get a person in there with a meter and a grinder. Any suggestions?

The method of determining the thickness is
not specified, you need not use an ultra-sonic tester for this task. Why not use calipers?

The drypipe can be removed if necessary. Very small boilermakers can be hired. If the steam pipes and T are removed from the smokebox, tests may be peformed as readily from the inside of the pipe as from the outside.

You can find a real skinny boilermaker, or you can remove the drypipe, or you can remove the steam lines and T and UT from the inside of the pipe.
