Our next session in the restoration shop will be Saturday May 5, 2007 from 9am till 4:30pm. (In time to make the Annual Meeting at 5:00)

This past session most of our effort was focused on car 355. We finished assembly of the first truck and continued with the assembly of the second truck. We moved car 355 up to the shop in the early afternoon. With the car in the shop we did what we had been waiting a long time to do, we put the first truck under 355.

Work continued on with scraping paint from the exterior of Car 169. George is moving right along with cleaning the first vestibule of paint in preparation for repairs and paint. As new details of striping and lettering are exposed they are being documented. Stripping the exterior is probably the longest part of any restoration. It is tedious, but very rewarding with the results when we paint the car.

Dave Worth continues to piece car 16 together. The outside is looking real good with the graffiti removed. He has solved the issues with getting the cars heaters working. It will be nice to see this car under operation in the near future.

The plans for the next session are to continue to the strip paint on the exterior of car 169. The assembly of car 355’s 2nd truck will continue with the installation of the motors in the truck and final assembly details. We hope to be placing the cars second truck early in the morning. We should be able to get 355 moving under its own power for the annual meeting. There are plans to do a tribute to Fred Bennet before the start of the annual meeting. It is a tough goal, but we can do it with everyone’s help.

Though I'm only slightly a trolley fan, I really do enjoy reports like this of successful (and interesting) restoration projects. Thank you very much for posting this.

As I get older I find myself looking at ALL rail equipment and I am really enjoying the trolley shows on TV more than before. As a matter of fact way back last century, I was going to see new customer in Washington PA, and when I turned into their street, there I see trolleys! And right there is a car I recognized. It was from Red Arrow in Upper Darby! Awesome operation and this was when they were only a year or two old.
