Coal smoke is once again emitting from the Steamtown roundhouse in Scranton, PA. Last week (May 9) CP no. 2317 sat on the turntable while the safety valves were set, and she spent Golden Spike day through May 12 running the Scranton Limited yard shuttles. Today, minor repairs to the trailing truck kept her indoors, but we expect her to return to the former Lackawanna RR mainline heading to East Stroudsburg on Saturday, May 19. Along the way, the train will stop in Cresco for a re-dedication of the restored station. Some people will get the chance to ride the train from Cresco to E-Burg and return. This is Steamtown's first station stop on the line in about 11 years, and the train is nearly full. Hope to see you along the line, if not on the train.
This is also 2317's first mainline trip since 2003, when the tender derailed, and six coaches followed on the ground.

Only from the 2317 for now. This warm weather is tricking us into thinking the year is further along than it is, and I don't remember having two locos steamed up before Memorial Day. It must have something to do with the "white shoes" law enforced by the fashionistas.

While 3254 is getting finished up on the annual inspection, she is still separated from her tender. I will post when she returns to steam, as well as the other girls waiting their turn.
