Hope someone can help me with this.

Being a fan of wooden passenger cars, I have acquired a good amount of old HO Ambroid/LaBelle cars over the years (about 40 now). Last year I purchased a 3 car set on Ebay that were intresting, painted Yellow, with Red roof, lettered for the Quincy Railway. These cars are highly detailed on both the exteriors and interiors.

I haven't been able to find much as to if they are replica's of the Quincy Railroad's passenger cars (I'm assuming they did have some since there were HO models available of passenger stations for the Quincy back in the day) or if they are just someones freelance models.

I'm in a debate as to repainting them or leaving them "as is" if they are indeed prototype examples.

Any info on the Quicny and it's passenger operations would be helpful.

Can't say about the Quincy RR cars, but the Ambroid cars were based on Boston & Maine cars. Some of these ended up on the standard gauge line that runs between Felton and Santa Cruz, California today, with most of the rest beautifully restored at Strasburg.

This won't help with the question of Quincy RR combines, but here's a

The WP Railroad Museum at Portola, or the Plumas County Museum in
Quincy might have some more information.

That much I do already know...that the ambroid kits were based loosly on B&M cars and LaBelle's closed vestibule kits were based on NP cars.

These cars are a bit shorter than Ambroid's standard car, but not as short as some LaBelle Kits...they don't look as though the underframes have been shortened as I would see evidence of cuts to the floor and such.

I have built many old ambroid kits as well as built my own from scratch. It's just that thes are intresting, well detailed and look as though someone took a prototype example to work from.

Quincy ended passenger operations in the 1950's, but if they only had a self propelled car, then that would make these cars I have freelance.

I think the Quincy also had some conventional passenger cars. Years ago, my father told me about riding the Quincy into town, and that the brakeman came into the car by walking over the roof walk on the car ahead. That was about 1928.
