My Maine books aren't handy and I'm called for train 931, but isn't this the one now at Wiscasset?

Yep! thats her!
the only surviving Portland Forney,
and one of only 5 surviving original Maine 2-footer locomotives.
(the other four are at the Maine Narrow Gauge museum in Portland..
Monson #3 and #4, B&H #7 and #8)

Sandy River #5 was built by the Portland Locomotive works in 1891.
She was originally Sandy River Railroad #5.
then Sandy River & Rangeley Lakes #6.
then Kennebec Central #4.
and lastly Wiscasset Waterville & Farmington #9.

today she is being restored to operating condition at the WW&F museum in Alna, Maine..a new boiler is under construction right now.

she was last under steam in 1934.

Good timing, Bob. Here are the most recent pictures of the construction of No 9's new boiler, taken just last week at the Boothbay Ry Village shops. This is the first locomotive boiler to be built in Maine in 102 years. More soon!
