Is this the engine that later went to the Oregon & North Western and later still to the San Diego RR Museum?

If this link work, This is the locomotive at the Pacific Southwest Railway Museum.

This is not the same loco as the one at SDRM has roller bearings by the looks of the picture.

The demo model pictured may in fact be the one owned by the Museum of Transport in MO, but for all intents abandoned in Tigard, OR.

From what I've been told, it's a former Demo model, later O&NW.

Negative, according to several sources here, including The Second Diesel Spotter's Guide by Pinkepank & Marre, which has this same Vollrath photo. According to P&M, "This unit became DSS&A [Duluth, South Shore & Atlanta] 211, later SOO 395 [sold to Soo along with the other seven AS-616's]. The trimount-style truck later was adapted on some of the last AS-616's delivered to PRR, C&O, and NdeM." This unit began life with the cast Commonwealth trucks.

I'm not going to go in and analyze the SDRM loco at the moment, but I can say that quite a few present-day Baldwins have had roller bearings subbed for original journals. It's now about the only way such a loco will get from one railroad to another, if you think about it.

No, I think we are getting two different units mixed up here. Soo 395, ex DSS&A 211 was formerly BLH 1600, while the web site claims the O&NW engine was formerly BLH 1601. See http://sooline.dieselrosters.com/details.aspx?lineageId=100 for more data on the Soo engine.

As I recall from a semi recent article about the South Shore's Baldwins in The SOO, the magazine of the Soo Line Historical & Technical Society, the locomotive came to the DSS&A in March 1952 with the tri-mount trucks, and there was some sort of financial arrangement between BLH and the railroad to reimburse them for keeping maintenance records that compared the 211 to other similar locos on the roster equipped with Commonwealth trucks.

All the South Shore locomotives went to the Soo when the two roads (and Wisconsin Central) merged in 1961. The RS-1's kept their same numbers, but the Baldwins were all renumbered due to roster conflicts.

The other line from SDSG I didn't quote:
"Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton demonstrator 1600 originally had Commonwealth trucks but they later were exchanged for the trimount-style truck while the unit was still operating as a demonstrator."
