Earl,

What are yall burning in 1744? That is a nice looking stack from what I can see. Is that more from fireman skill or does she just fire good and easy?
I dont mean any disrespect at all, I know yall are all good engine men there.

We're currently burning #2 diesel fuel. Our supplier keeps promising something heavier, but it hasn't shown up yet.

Once 1744 gets her bricks hot she steams very well with a remarkably clear stack. It sometimes takes a couple miles for her to "thaw out", especially if your now working her very hard. We down the Valley to Antonito last week and it took her 5-7 miles to wake up.

1744 does not like to get force fired. The harder you fire and the more smoke you make the less she steams.
