Can it possibly be 31 years since the Bicentennial? It seems like yesterday that I stood on Clayallee in West Berlin watching the Bicentennial parade with my two tiny sons.

And later in the afternoon watching from an overpass DR 2-10-0's switching the interchange point between DB trains that came in from Helmstedt, and the rest of the DR system.

Time passes much, much too fast.

In a hailstorm in Silver Plume - usual Colorado summer weather. If it clears up, BBQ and fireworks tonight. We are running a special train to view the fireworks from the High Bridge.

Best wishes to everybody on this holiday.

Anyone know the status of #1003 these days? Where the 2-8-2 currently resides and if any trips have been scheduled for her?

Les,
She just ran caboose-light from Hartford, WI, to Whitewater, WI, for display this past weekend. I believe she headed back on Sunday afternoon or evening. I saw a couple of photos posted, I think they were on Trainorders. Like 1225 and 261, she is a midwestern locomotive and ignored by most folks outside of the geographical region.....for some reason.
