Just two years old at Columbus, Ohio in October 1955. None were saved, but it appears the whole boiler has gotten the graphite treatment, somewhat unusual.

Quite the tender for a switcher! Were these the heaviest 0-8-0's in the USA?

N&W's S1a's were middleweights in the overall scheme of things:

Eng Wt - 247,000 lbs
Total Wt - 459,270 lbs

IHB's U4a's were the heaviest, but they were also 3-cylinder with tender boosters:

Eng Wt - 294,000 lbs (#100)
Total Wt - 525,800 lbs

Other large 0-8-0s

B&LE S4a
Eng Wt - 279,000 lbs
Total Wt - 465,700 lbs

L&NE #134
Eng Wt - 279,950 lbs
Total Wt - 458,800 lbs

PRR C1
Eng Wt - 278,000 lbs
Total Wt - 445,000 lbs
