The Santa Maria Valley Railway Historical Museum of Santa Maria, California plans to obtain this locomotive, which once switched cars at the Betteravia refinery of Union Sugar Co. This link to their website has a rare photo of the engine at Union Sugar, still retaining its original four-wheel tender, plus others of it currently at Jamestown. Though many parts appear to be missing, most of them do still exist.

Still unclear is the locomotive's previous number on the Rock Island. I have seen both 81 and 84 as its original CRI&P number. Wes Krambecks thorough RI roster/photo book shows an 81, but no 84 among the 0-4-0Ts, as well as 78, and 89. The rest were originally in the 200, 300, 400 and 500 series, with a numbering system about as confusing as the PRR's. The Class MP2 engines were renumbered 1-63 in 1890 and most were sold off or scrapped by 1908, with a few saved as shop switchers. No. 3 was the last, used at Silvis, Illinois until about 1940. No. 81 became 36 in 1890. I have also seen this locomotive listed as CRI&P 11 (previously 357), which has been pictured as the yard engine at Fairbury, Nebraska at the turn of the century.
