Just a rare 1921 photo of Hawaii's only standard gauge common carrier. I think it shut down after the 1946 tidal wave. Two engines were said to have been lost at sea about 1949, while going back to the mainland to be scrapped. One was a 2-6-0, can't remember the other and don't have the G. Best book anymore to check.

I never knew Hawaii had any Standard gage. What island was it on, and where did it run?

On the "Big Island" -- Hawaii. It operated out of the port at Hilo and ran both inland and north of there. A Tsuanmi (tidal wave) whipped out the railroad in 1946.

I found this on the web:
