Can anybody give a little background on this engine? TSRR's friend's website lists it as an ALCO RS-2. It sure looks like an RS-2, did Brookeville remanufacture it or is it just a nice picture on Brookeville's website?

So far as I know, #7's an RS-2. Can't say for sure about the rebuild, but, 10 years ago #7 was painted red and badly in need of an overhaul. It would make sense, not that you can always go on that....

The 244 engine was yanked out and scrapped; it was replaced by a Cat or Cummins engine.

Yes, TSR 7 was extensively remanufactured by Brookville Equipment Corp at their shop in Brookville, PA. I saw it several times while under way, I believe in 2005 or early 2006. A new engine replaced the 244 and new electricals replaced all the above-frame original stuff. An attempt was made to keep its appearance as orginal as possible.

That locomotive ran around very late in life with the original GE RD-1
air cooled turbosupercharger.

We should refer to it as a RS2-CAT.
