I have often looked at museums and railroads from the"air" using Google Earth. In the past when I have checked on the EBT it was all non-enhanced and kind of blurry. At some point in past few weeks this has changed. Orbisonia, Mount Union and even Robertsdale are all visable.

When you a have minute go visit!

Happy Thanksgving!

I just went and checked it,and you are correct. Pennsylvania used to be only detailed around the Philly and Pittsburgh areas. Thanks for the update on the update.

If you look for our site (PTHT) on Google earth, the shot is about six years old. All that is visible are the three cabeese. That leaves six pieces unaccounted for and a lot of track! I wish there was a site that a bit more curent and with some detail.

Later!

Hop on the Web and check Google's competitors - Yahoo! Maps, MapQuest or MSN Live maps. Quality can vary, and resolution can vary a lot. For instance, Google can't be beat for overheads of IRM -- but for Cass WV, my employer Yahoo! beats em by a mile.

The "maps on the web" space is quite competitive, and stuff is changing all the time. Just months ago, MSN was beating everybody for awhile with aerial (from airplane) photos rather than satellite, but that seems to have gone away.

I tried all three and Yahoo and Mapquest show the same image because you only see the three cabeese. Now MSN Live is more current because you can see the other two tracks with our GE 100 ton diesel a gap and then the extra trucks, flat car, Tidewater tanker, gondola, hopper and the last caboose, an old CNJ that we just re-sided. The tanker was brought in last April and it is the last car to arrive at our site. Thanks for the tip. I will put them in my favorites.

Later!
