Does anyone what became of the auxlliary tender used on Ross's High Iron trips? Last I time I saw it was at Steamtown's Yard in VT. back in the late 70's or early 80's before the museum moved. It was numbered 7592102 (I think).

When we moved the 5288 out of the Tobyhanna Army Depot, it was sitting with the other stored equipment there. Now that Steamtown is/has removed all the equipment stored at Toby, I would think it is now in Scranton. Maybe Dave Crosby can ring in to confirm this.

I asked Chris Ahrens what his plans were for it and he indicated he wanted to keep it for "future possibilities".

I can't speculate too much on the car, but I can say it still is at Tobyhanna. If I'm not mistaken, was this originally an N&W car?

Incidentally, Steamtown has second aux tender. Its of the garden variety Canadian Pacific G3 variety. From what more than one person told me and what I've seen, it survived as a water car for a rotary plow. It was moved to Steamtown in '98 from Tobyhanna and tested for possible use. They filled it with water and it had so many leaks, the thing was empty by morning.

So i would imagine re-habing the 759-era tender is not out of the question.
