Some time ago I heard a rumor the the Zephyr set in Saudi Arabia, a twin to IRM's Nebraska Zephyr set, was to be sent back to the US by the Saudi government, via US military transport. Does anyone know if this rumor was true? (Or am I incorrectly remembering an april fools joke?)

I did a "Zephyr" & "Saudia Arabia" search and found an article from last year on Train Orders. Of course I am not a member but if some person would like to try.

I think this is what I was remembering this from, Bob mentions it in this RyPN editorial:

With all of the narrative about what exists and current status of preservation efforts, I was disappointed to not see any accounting of where the cars are today.

Is there a current roster of existing Zephyr cars and their whereabouts?

The Burlington Route Historical Society maintains a nice website with rosters of existing equipment (diesels, steam locomotives, passenger cars, etc.) It probably needs a little tweaking for updates but it has always provided a good source of information or as a starting place for continued research. Give it a look. Is there any particular car that you are searching for?

Knowing where they are and which ones are available for purchase would be useful.

Thanks for the information. I will look at that web site.

Knowing who has that kind of money burning a hole in his/her pocket would be even more useful. <:-)
