This photograph is one of the greatest arguments for replica locomotives. What a wonder job of reproducing a long, departed machine. Of course its overall small size made it much more realistic to reproduce.

She now has a sister 4-4-0, Leviathan under construction... built to the same plans and patterns:

Still another replica, this one a 2-6-0, based on a 1860's San Francisco built V&T loco:

http://web.mac.com/vtlyon/iWeb/The%20Ly ... 0Home.html

The Lyon project suffered when the loco's owners suffered economic and personal setbacks, but appears to be going again. The loco frame, drivers, cylinders and such is at Strasburg, the tender is under construction in the Midwest.

It appears that loco replication is real.

Replication real? Have you not chacked out the progress of the A4 project in the UK? Much larger and more complex than these.

Great photo! I wouldn't mind seeing the same with a NYC Hudson replica!

I'd like to know more of the Leviathan project, where is she being built? Looks to privately owned? Where would she operate? It would be wonderful to see her travel around a bit.

If anyone has contact info (besides what is on the website) for the gentleman building the Leviathan please PM me. Been trying to reach these folks for months.

Thanks,
Stephen
