Jamie Terrell posted the following pictures on the Yahoo PCC car group of Tandy #1, a surviving car body in the original Leonards M&O subway configuration.

The car body was formerly DC Transit 1551, a 1945 St. Louis Car Company product.

Amazing how much of the original Washington carbody is revealed. According to an older post, when Tandy did the first modernization, a lot of the stuff was just covered up with sheet metal. When they went to go to the new Radio Shack bodies, it was discovered the step wells were still in place, just covered up by sheet metal.

1551 was just about the last PCC ordered. Any clue as to its future? Another Washington PCC gets saved!
