Post subject: Whereabouts of Strasburg's "Pequea Valley" Pullman
PostPosted: Wed Jan 30, 2002 12:59 am

Recently I have been trying to track down the current whereabouts of former Strasburg RR steel Pullman "Pequea Valley". In previous lives, the sleeping car was named "White Cloud" on the Pittsburgh and Lake Erie. It was privately purchased by some SRR Vice-Presidents in 1959 and after a long period of dormancy it was sold in 1985-86. One eyewitness mentioned that the car was moved at that time to the Octoraro Railway for storage. Clues, anyone??

Kurt,

I have some contacts who were with the "Big O", I'll ask about the car. Something I found interesting is how locals pronounce the name Peck-Way.

Thanks a bunch, Tom. It seems that the Pequea name is derived from the Susquehannock Indian language. A creek of the same name runs in the same valley as the Strasburg, hence the name of the car. Any info you can provide would always be appreciated.
