2.Going to Physical Therapy to get my new knee working better.
3.Fixing my home water heater that keeps shutting down.
4.Repairing the cabinet trim around the oven.
5.Sleeping while driving... actually trying not do that.

When not playing train I run boats off the Pacific Coast. I am licensed for up to 100 ton. On the car side hot rods and vintage Porsche. And if I find time I actually work. Not to hard though.

Professionally (i.e. paid) I run a house museum... on a historic farm which also hosts our railroad museum...

For laughs I try to keep up with our house, am slowly restoring a Fiat 850, kayak on San Francisco Bay, and occasionally travel...

Well, I would say 1) work and when I have the time 2) research railroad history (several western narrow gauges have my attention) including at archive centers and newspaper microfilms.

The narrow gauges have been Carson & Colorado (SP narrow gauge), Los Angeles & Redondo, Nevada-California-Oregon, passenger equipment of the White Pass & Yukon Route, and have just started to scratch the surface for the San Gabriel Valley Rapid Transit.

Wow, how odd. I too work insurance (auto claims). I was a CW re-enactor for almost 30 years, and still do WW2 re-enacting, since the 80s and I'm into cowboy action shooting.

I have a number of activities that I do. I do volunteer with Old Pueblo Trolley running streetcars (technically not trains). I do everything from repair work to operations instruction-all operators are required to possess a valid Commercial Driver's License with necessary endorsements. As the Training Department Manager, a good deal of my time is in dealing with administrative matters.

I also play music and travel. I've played percussion since junior high-was in marching band through high school and did a couple of years in symphonic band in college. As a percussionist I've played everything from base drum to timpani. Personally I loved timpani the most as they were the most challenging instrument to play in concert percussion. My parents are private pilots and presently own four planes, one of which is under construction. I grew up around aircraft and have been many places that you just can't get to by commercial aviation.

Then there's work. I work as a Deputy Court Clerk for the Clerk of the Superior Court of Pima County, Arizona. To give you some idea of the size of our jurisdiction, you could fit the entire State of New Jersey within the boundaries of our county with room to spare. Only Maricopa County and Coconino County are larger than us. I work in the Legal Records Unit which is responsible for maintaining all court files except juvenile records or minor adoptions-those are maintained at Juvenile Court.

We get to deal with everyone else's misery here-everything from Dissolutions of Marriage to civil lawsuits to criminal records and Domestic Violence matters. Before I hired on, I spent about half a year working as a volunteer in the Domestic Violence section. My job there encompassed everything from taking in Petitions for Orders of Protection/Injunctions Against Harassment to taking the parties into court and later issuing certified copies of signed Orders. Hardest part of the job was having to review the Petitions and sitting through the court hearings. Some of the cases were simply horrific-one or two of which will forever be in my mind throughout my career with the court. Some days would be slow while on others, the other deputy clerk and I would be so busy that one of us would stay downstairs to process the Petitions while the other ran back and forth, to and from court with Petitioners. I think that the most we had was something like twenty petitions in one day. Needless to say, the street railway and music are a major escape from the horrors of the courthouse.

Want to come to Albuquerque? (more shameless self promotion ;-)) I have seen some of your work and you have every right to be proud of your talents and abilities.

Stay as far away from trains as possible unless they are steam powered.

Car shows and karaoke are the best therapy for off duty railroaders in my book.

My wife once said that "Kevin is half Scot and half Train. " I am an all around history junkie, and with the exception of singing and occasionally playing a keyboard, all my hobbies and recreational activities are history related.

I am deeply involved in the Scottish community, especially with the St. Andrew's Society of Baltimore (www.standrewsbaltimore.org). April is going to be a particularly heavy month of Scottish activities. The St. Andrew's Society is having a Kirkin (Blessing) of the Tartans at the Basilica of the Assumption in Baltimore which I am organizing on April 6. On April 12, we are going to their Tartan Ball. On April 20, the Washington St. Andrew's Society has their Kirkin at the Washington Cathedral. On April 26, we are planning to celebrate my birthday at the Southern Maryland Celtic Festival in Calvert County, MD, the first Scottish games of the season in this area, where I will no doubt run into Brother Mitchell and share a brew or two. It will be great to be able to wear both kilts this month.

For the last eighteen months, I have been volunteering as a Tour Guide at the Basilica of the Assumption in Baltimore (www.baltimorebasilica.org) the first Cathedral in the United States. It was designed by Benjamin Henry Latrobe, who was building the US Capitol in Washington at the same time. Under the leadership of Cardinal William Keeler of Baltimore, the Basilica has just undergone a $32 million renovation to bring it back as closely as possible to its appearance when it was opened in 1821. And before you guys ask the question, His Eminence is a big history buff, but has never expressed any interest in trains.

I also love old aircraft and ships. At Christmas time, I visited the Air Museum at Warner Robins, GA. Over the years I have been on five battleships, two aircraft carriers, plus the 1854 USS Constellation, USS Constitution and HMS Belfast in London.

In my spare time I hold down a full time job with Wings Tours in Hunt Valley, MD, do Honey Do chores, and am an usher in my church.
