Is this the FA that RMNE is restoring to service?:

What's the status of this restoration?

That's the one. Last time I saw it was still at the storage lot on the Valley RR north of Old Saybrook (the same place they had the fire a couple years ago). There were rumors circulating last week that a hospital train was to move at least some RMNE equipment to Waterbury soon.

When I saw it, the mechanicals were in good shape. If memory serves, the major components were all in place, the prime mover had been test-run, and RMNE volunteers were installing a new brake system. Hopefully Howard P can chime in and give us an update.

The rebuilt brake system has been completed in NH FA-1 0401. Plans are to move the unit to RMNE's Thomaston Shop Yard at some future point, so that the restoration project can continue. There's plenty left to do, but having the loco at our new facility should help the project move along at a more rapid rate.
