I am a junior history and economic studies student at Appalachian State University, VP of a club on campus, work with a couple of wildlife conservation groups, and play music in the form of resonator guitar (dobro) and percussion in Bluegrass/Americana and most other forms of American cultural music, respectively.

I also like to hunt and fish, and I have to admit that I am ashamed to say I haven't done much work relating to (mainly) steam locomotives or railroading since I've been in college. I do attempt to maintain a serious interest in the hobby, and I wish to someday pursue fundraising for historic rail equipment preservation and operation.

As a sidenote, Josh Blay can attest that my doctor did the entire world a favor by prescribing me with Strattera. (Has it seriously been six years since your graduate work bud?)

I enjoy my wife and kids and Cairn terrier more than anything else. We hike and camp in the mountains of southwestern VA and NC (from Mount Rogers to Mount Mitchell), and related to that I (attempt to) grow Fraser fir, red spruce, and hemlock trees in our back yard in metro Charlotte, NC.

I love the music of violinist/composer Jean Luc Ponty; it has been a thrill to bring my wife and kids to see (and once even meet) him 3 times in concert in the last 15 months.

I also tinker in the garage, enjoy driving back roads and visiting non-chain hardware stores, mom-and-pop places, etc. I also enjoy a good art museum from time to time (Hudson River school, French impressionists in particular).

Oh yeah, the work thing-I work for an IT group for a major bank.

I also like vintage aviation, industrial heritage/archeology, and 60s/70s muscle cars, particularly the 1970/1971 Dodge Challenger.

Nice work if you can get it! A bit like Micheal Jackson, no not THAT one, the beer guy. Keep up the good work ,but I have to ask, what is your favorite brew?

Yeah, but paying for the 15 years of "apprenticeship" wasn't cheap.

Favorite? The next new one. I utterly refuse to pick favorites; it all depends on the mood, what I'm eating/have eaten, the weather/temp, upcoming activities, etc. Even a list of potential nominees would be at least 50 beers long and all over the chart--India pale ales, barleywines, Scottish ales, session ales, hefeweizens, Belgians all over the place, a specific brewery's stout or porter, cask-conditioned beers, etc.

Good Morning

I am an operations manager for a sand & gravel company, have a couple of late sixties Chrysler 300's and have more than just a passing interest in Naval History, mainly WWII and European.

I find it interesting how many people responding have an interest in music. I also am in a band (SNAKEBITE, coming soon to a snakepit near you) a kinda middle-aged garage band...Not anything fancy, just Rock&Roll....The rest of my time is taken up by a daughter that plays select soccer....

Never a Dull Moment....Dave

Cool! I am in the middle of a drive train swap in a Jeep Wrangler right now. Think rocks, big rocks... I am looking at an inertia ring for crawling. (yes, I have the right axle gears for what I am doing)

Currently the US Coast Guard has me away from Maine, where I was a volunteer at the Seashore Trolley Museum, both shop & operations. Now that I am in the Tidewater area of Virginia I can concentrate on my Chevelle (1972 SS clone for those interested) frame swap and spend time "training" my son & daughter with our backyard RR. Would not call it a garden RR as one would have to have a garden for that :) Other times find me scanning my fathers vast slide & negative collection, or researching the Third Avenue Railway of New York City.....

In my "off" time, I drink (mostly due to Taylor) swap lies with friends and chase women. Yes, it's okay to be envious :)
