Alco built #3031 running out of Valle de Mexico yard at a late date for active mainline steam in Mexico; January 1968:

Would be nice if someone could post a complete list of these handsome NdeM Alco and Baldwin built 4-8-4's and their status as of today. Anyone? The 3031 is reportedly undergoing some type of a restoration in (or for) Huehuetoca.

Been "under restoration" for about 14 years.

It is basically a back burner project and with so many other projects needing attention that are of a higher priority it is going to take a lot of time to complete. I see it being similar to the restoration of the camelback and the 972 at SRC. There is still a good amount of work to do on the 3028 but I am not going to count it out.

That's her, and that's what she looks like now, though she has sat back there for quite awhile now in that condition so I don't know how recent the photo is, but that is how she looks right now.

Yes, sir. That appears to be the 3028. My understanding is, and I'm sure others here can add more light on the subject, that the locomotive is now outside so that coach work could be completed in the shops.

Other than having seen the locomotive last weekend in much the state you see in the photo, I can not comment on it's condition, restoration progress, etc. Looks like one heck of a project though!
